History of Photography - Assignment 1 - Pictorialism

Who would have thought - I am loving History of Photography 100!!! Victor has a great teaching style, a lecture about the era of photo history we are covering and then a assignment of 5-10 photos representing that type of photography! Its great - gets us out shooting and eventually will allow us to understand where our personal style of photography came from and what influences us as a photographer!

Pictorialism -  very soft, resembling a painting, soft colors! Great portraiture photography - soft, lacking smiles, focusing on the subject. Stagltz was a great photographer who loved to capture the beauty of the human form - nudes!

Here are the photos I used for my assignment!

Fall and camo go hand in hand...

Its so great to work with a family that incorporated a part of who they are into the shoot and willing to make it a more unique experience.

Thanks for the great evening Krystle, Chris and the boys!

Low Key

Once I began to understand what was meant by Low and High Key I now think I could have a lot of fun with this - especially with studio lighting being played with!

A Sunday Bridal Show

Today was amazing! I attended my first "Bridal Show" with Vanessa (who's wedding I am in next September in Mexico) and Jackie! It is astounding the different types of businesses that are involved in the wedding planning process.

A great thing for me - being a photographer, was seeing two other wedding photographer booths and what they had to offer. I was really intrigued and inspired by the one company. I introduced myself and told her I was attending CATO and mentioned my project I have coming up for PDP200 and asked her if she would be willing to get together and talk (interview) about the business, tips and pointers she may have to offer. She was very inspiring, let me in on a few different secrets and supports up and coming photographers. She has a unique style and it was great to talk to someone who started small and it very successful with her business.

Bring on week three!!! I am very excited for History of Photography and Adobe Photoshop for Photographers tomorrow! Its going to be great to learn the history of what I would love to do for the rest of my life and then to educate myself on enhancing already great photos to be that much better.

xoxo

A Colour Change.

This photo has inspired me to change the colours of the BLUSHD PHOTOGRAPHY blog. I believe it represents romance, beauty, and is bright and inspiring at the same time!

The end to week ONE!!

10/10/10     WEIRD!!!

I got my grades back from first quarter and killed with A's!!!!

With week one behind me I am so excited about second quarter! History of Photography, Digital Imaging, POP 200, Design 100, Lighting for Stills and PDP 200!! Its going to be great!

I went out shooting with a fellow student (Tabitha) for assignment number one in POP 200! She found this amazing little pumpkin patch owned by a cute old couple that we have been doing the assignment at!

Just a few of the unedited photos!

Thanksgiving was lacking moms cooking - no turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing or mashed potatoes! I did make myself turkey, asparagus, peas and rice - but it just was not even close to the moms cooking! I did get to see Katrina Friday night for a bit. She was in town coaching Kelly Road Vball and that was great - such a pretty smile to brighten my day!

I am thankful for my supportive family, amazing caring friends, photography school and creating a better career for myself, and my new found love - THE GYM!!!

These are just some fun photos I did on my ride home this afternoon! I found this unreal graffiti and am in love - amazing bright colours just wanted to see its ability for a shoot - just need a model!

OH - and tonights beautiful clouds!!!

HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY MONDAY!!

                            with love
